Before Sharpsburg
From Clarendon County, SC, he enlisted there on 4 June 1861 as Private, Company K, 6th South Carolina Infantry.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was back to duty on 7 May 1863. He was sick for several months and listed as disabled by late 1863. He was detailed as a nurse at Richmond, VA hospitals to 20 October 1864 when he returned to his Company. He was surrendered with them at Appomattox Court House, VA on 9 April 1865.
After the War
He was a farmer in WIlliamsburg County, SC.
