Before Sharpsburg
A 28 year old cabinet maker, he enlisted and mustered as Private, Company F, 37th Virginia Infantry on 20 August 1861 in Glade Spring, VA. He was on furlough January through April 1862.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was admitted to Winder Hospital in Richmond, VA on 16 October and furloughed on 9 November. He returned to duty, date not given and was with his Company to at least May 1864.
