An unmarried 23 year old farmer, he enlisted at Harrisburg (or Anderson), TX as a Private in Company G, 4th Texas Infantry on 19 July 1861.

On the Campaign

He was in action with his Company at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and was killed in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.
