Before Sharpsburg

A 33 year old farmer in Scott County, he enlisted and mustered as Private, Company D, 37th Virginia Infantry on 27 May 1861 in Abingdon, VA. He was slightly wounded at McDowell, VA on 8 May 1862 and at Cedar Mountain, VA on 9 August.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was on the muster roll for December 1862 with no further record. He enlisted in Scott County on 1 February 1864 in Company A, 25th Virginia Cavalry and was listed as absent without leave on 17 December 1864.

After the War

He was living in Flat Gap, Johnson County, KY at the 1870 US Census and in Morgan County by 1880.
