James Trigg Pendleton

A 33 year old farmer in Scott County, he enlisted and mustered as Private, Company D, 37th Virginia Infantry on 27 May 1861 in Abingdon, VA. He was slightly wounded at McDowell, VA on 8 May 1862 and at Cedar Mountain, VA on 9 August.

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

He was on the muster roll for December 1862 with no further record. He enlisted in Scott County on 1 February 1864 in Company A, 25th Virginia Cavalry and was listed as absent without leave on 17 December 1864.

He was living in Flat Gap, Johnson County, KY at the 1870 US Census and in Morgan County by 1880.

He married Sarah Jane Kilgore (1828-1912) in about 1846 and they had 11 Children. Ten were born in Scott County, VA from about 1849-65; the eleventh in Johnson County, KY in 1869.
