Before Sharpsburg
An 18 year old tinner, he enlisted and mustered as Private, Company A, 37th Virginia Infantry in Goodson (now Bristol), VA on 10 March 1862. He was wounded at Cedar Mountain on 9 August 1862.
On the Campaign
He was severely wounded in the hand in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was wounded again, by gunshot to the head, and captured at Spotsylvania Court House, VA on 12 May 1864. He was treated at the US 5th Corps hospital then at Lincoln Hospital in Washington, DC, with no further record.
