Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted as 2nd Corporal in Company C, 6th South Carolina Infantry on 2 July 1861 in Ridgeville, SC. He was slightly wounded at Seven Pines, VA in 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded (probably in the left leg) in action on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He returned to duty in January 1863 and was promoted to 2nd Sergeant that Spring. He was wounded again, in the hand on 10 May 1864 and in both thighs on 19 June 1864.

After the War

He was a fisherman in Sumter County, SC at the 1880 Federal Census and was a farmer in Carpenter, FL by 1900.
