William Henry Dobbins

A student at Emory and Henry College, he enlisted as Private, Company C, Phillips' Legion Infantry Battalion on 11 June 1861.

He was mortally in action at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862 and died soon afterward.

His service from Graham,1 who says he was killed outright at Fox's Gap. His gravesite is on Findagrave.

Some of his wartime letters are among his father John S. Dobbins' papers at Emory University [finding aid].
