Before Sharpsburg
Age 26, from Cass (soon renamed Bartow) County, he enlisted as Private, Company D, Phillips' Legion Infantry Battalion on 24 April 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded by gunshot to the shoulder (leg?) and captured in action at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was treated at a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD from 22 October to 13 December, then sent to Baltimore. He was exchanged at City Point, VA on 18 December 1862. He was captured at Sailor's Creek, VA on 6 April 1865 and held at Point Lookout, MD to 24 June 1865.
After the War
He was a farmer in Bartow County, GA to at least 1880.
