He enlisted as Private, Company E, Phillips' Legion Infantry Battalion on 9 July 1861.

On the Campaign

He was captured in action at Fox's Gap on South Mountain, MD on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was exchanged on 2 October 1862 and wounded at Fredericksburg, VA on 13 December 1862. He was listed as a deserter in Tennessee in November 1863 but back on duty by April 1864. He was wounded again, at Hanover Junction, VA on 27 May 1864. No further military record after 5 November 1864.

After the War

He lived in Oklahoma for "many years."
