Before Antietam

From Warren, he enlisted as Private, Battery G, First Rhode Island Light Artillery on 2 December 1861. He was appointed Sergeant on 9 June 1862.

On the Campaign

He was slightly wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant on 14 May 1863 and was promoted to First Lieutenant of Battery H on 17 August 1864. He mustered out on 28 June 1865.

After the War

He died young, about 30 years old, in 1868.
