On the Campaign
He was captured in action at Fox's Gap on South Mountain, MD on 14 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was exchanged on 2 October 1862. He wa wounded in the finger at Fredericksburg, VA on 13 December 1862 and more seriously, in the leg, near Chattanooga, TN on 24 September 1863. His leg was amputated, but he died of wounds later that month.
