On the Campaign

He was wounded in the chest in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was captured at Gettysburg, PA on 2 July 1863 and held at Fort Delaware. He was exchanged on 31 October 1864 and returned to duty. He was captured at Sailor's Creek, VA on 6 April 1865 and in prison at Newport News, VA until he was released on 26 June 1865.
