He was wounded in action at Fox's Gap on South Mountain, MD on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was promoted to Corporal in 1863 but furloughed home by October 1864. He was listed afterward as absent without leave, but may have been recruiting in Georgia to the end of the war.
