Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted as Private, Company F, Phillips' Legion Infantry Battalion on 1 August 1861.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in the arm and side in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was wounded again, in the neck at Fredericksburg, VA on 13 December. He was mortally wounded and captured at Gettysbsurg, PA - his leg was amputated - and he died at the US 2nd Army Corps hospital on 8 July 1863. He was originally buried there but reinterred at Hollywood Cemetery in 1872.
