He was wounded in the hip and captured in action at Fox's Gap on South Mountain, MD on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was exchanged on 17 October 1862 and returned to duty. He was wounded again, in the hand in May 1864, place not given. He was captured at Sailor's Creek, VA on 6 April 1865 and held at Point Lookout, MD until 29 June 1865.
