He enlisted at Camp Hampton, SC as Private, Company C, 17th South Carolina Infantry on 3 January 1862. He was wounded at Second Manassas in August 1862.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in action Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He died of wounds on 15 October 1862.
