Before Sharpsburg

A farmer in Spartanburg County, he enlisted as Private, Infantry Company E, Holcombe Legion on 16 March 1862.

On the Campaign

He was captured in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was paroled on 2 October but died of tuberculosis at a hospital in Richmond, VA on 5 November 1862.
