From Newberry County, he enlisted at Prosperity as Corporal, Infantry Company H, Holcombe Legion in December 1861.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Boonsboro - Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862

The rest of the War

He was promoted to Sergeant, date not given. He was captured on 1 April 1865 and was a prisoner at Point Lookout, MD into July 1865.

After the War

He moved to Columbia County, FL in January 1868. He applied for a pension there in 1901.
