Before Antietam
From Carbon County, he enlisted and mustered as Private, Company F, 13th Pennsylvania Reserves on 29 May 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded by gunshot to his thigh in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain, MD on 14 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was admitted to a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD on 18 September but he died of wounds on 14 (or 16) October 1862.
