Before Sharpsburg
An unmarried merchant in Homer, LA, he enrolled in the Minden Blues, a Company from Adkins Landing, LA before June 1861. He enlisted as Private on 23 June 1861 at Camp Moore, LA in Company G, 8th Louisiana Infantry. He was promoted to First Sergeant on 8 July 1862.
On the Campaign
He was wounded and captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was admitted to US Army General Hospital #5 in Frederick, MD on 10 October 1862. He was paroled at Ft. McHenry in Baltimore on 13 October and exchanged at Aiken's Landing, VA on 10 November 1862. He was wounded again, at Gettysburg, PA on 2 July 1863 and was with his Company to at least December 1863.
