Before Sharpsburg

He enlisted in Company I, 5th Louisiana Infantry on 4 June 1861 at Camp Moore, LA. He was promoted to First Sergeant on 7 June. He was commissioned Junior 2nd Lieutenant on 2 December, and promoted to First Lieutenant by August 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He was absent, recovering from his wound, into June 1863, but was promoted to Captain to date from 5 January 1863. He was on detail from July 1863 through August 1864 to the Bureau of Paroled and Exchanged Prisoners in Richmond, VA with no further record.
