Before Sharpsburg

An unmarried 22 year old barkeeper in New Orleans, he enlisted as Private in Company C, 5th Louisiana Infantry on 4 June 1861 at Camp Moore, LA.

On the Campaign

He was wounded and captured in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He was treated at a field hospital near Sharpsburg, then briefly at US Army General Hospital #5 in Frederick, MD from 15 to 16 October 1862. He was sent on to Fort McHenry in Baltimore then to Fortress Monroe, VA, and finally exchanged at Aiken's Landing, VA on 10 November. He was disabled by his Sharpsburg wound and detailed to duty in Richmond, VA. He was captured there in April 1865 and given transportation to New Orleans.

After the War

He lived in New Orleans.
