A teamster in New Orleans, he enlisted as Private in Company H, 6th Louisiana Infantry on 4 June 1861 at Camp Moore, LA.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.
The rest of the War
He was absent on furlough and sick in a hospital into April 1863 before returning to duty. He was sick again after July 1863 and was listed as a deserter from the hospital by December 1863.
