He enlisted 4 May 1861, at Orleans Barracks, in Company K, First Louisiana Infantry. He was an unmarried mechanic living in New Orleans.

On the Campaign

He was wounded and captured in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He was sent to Fort McHenry, MD on 14 October and "left in hospital ... too sick to move." He did not return to his Company and was later listed as a deserter with no record since October 1862.
