An unmarried 19 year old farmer in Ringgold, Bienville Parish, he enlisted as Private, Company C, 9th Louisiana Infantry on 7 July 1861 at Camp Moore, LA.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was home on furlough to at least October 1863 and listed as disabled, unfit for active service to February 1864, but back with his Company from May to October 1864 with no later military record.

After the War

He was still a farmer in Bienville Parish in 1880 and was living in Minden, Webster Parish by 1900.
