An unmarried 22 year old farmer at Baton Rouge, he enlisted in Company A, 8th Louisiana Infantry on 20 June 1861 at Camp Moore, LA.

On the Campaign

He was wounded and captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was sent to Fort McHenry in Baltimore and paroled there on 19 October, on to Fortress Monroe, VA, then exchanged at Aiken's Landing, VA on 10 November 1862. He was absent, wounded, to at least December 1863 with no further military record.
