Age 15, giving his age as 18, he enlisted on 11 August 1862 in Cato, and mustered as a Private in Company H, 111th New York Infantry on 20 August.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action on Bolivar Heights at Harpers Ferry on 14 September 1862.

Basic service from the Adjutant General.1 His memorial is on Findagrave. I have found no evidence that he was buried at Antietam National Cemetery.
