Before Antietam

Age 24, he enlisted on 27 September 1861 in Gloversville for three years and mustered as First Sergeant, Company K, 77th New York Infantry on 4 October. He was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant on 21 March 1862 (rank from 6 February) and promoted to First Lieutenant on 18 July (rank from 11 May).

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He died of his wounds on 27 February 1863 in Gloversville.

His widow Anna Hamilton Denison (d. 1896) applied for a pension in March 1863. They had at least one child, daughter Alice Denison Weaver.
