Before Antietam
Age 21, he enlisted on 5 September 1861 in Kingston and mustered as Private, Company B, 20th New York State Militia (80th Infantry) on 15 September. He was wounded at 2nd Manassas, VA on 30 August 1862.
On the Campaign
He was wounded again, in action on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He died of wounds on 17 September 1862.
