Before Antietam

A 23 year old farmer, he enlisted 30 April 1861 at Bath to serve 2 years as Private, Company A, 23rd New York Infantry, but was discharged for disability on 8 August in Arlington, VA. He enlisted again on 1 October 1861 in Elmira to serve 19 months and mustered back into the Company the same day.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.
