A 22 year old cooper in Philadelphia, he enlisted there in May 1861 and mustered as Private, Company D, 2nd Pennsylvania Reserves on 1 June 1861 at Sandy Hook, MD.

On the Campaign

He died of chronic diarrhea near South Mountain, MD on 13 September 1862.
