Before Antietam

He mustered into service as Private (?) Company H, 2nd Pennsylvania Reserves on 25 May 1861. He was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant on 17 October.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain, MD on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was promoted to First Lieutenant on 25 December 1862, but he did not muster at that rank. He resigned on 17 March 1863 and was honorably discharged.
