Before Antietam

He mustered into service as Private, Company H, 6th Pennsylvania Reserves on 22 April 1861.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in the hip and abdomen in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was treated at the Stone House (on the Samuel Poffenberger farm) and Hoffman Farm field hospitals near the battlefield, but died of wounds on 20 September 1862.
