Before Antietam

He mustered into service as Private, Company B, 8th Pennsylvania Reserves on 25 June 1861.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded by a gunshot to the leg in action at Turner's Gap on South Mountain, MD, on 14 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD on 18 September and transferred to Washington, DC on 28 September. He died of wounds on 13 October 1862, probably in Alexandria, VA.
