He enlisted at Athens in Henderson County, TX as a Private in Company K, 4th Texas Infantry on 15 July 1861.
On the Campaign
He was in action with his Company at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September and was initially reported missing at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862, but was mortally wounded there, and captured.
The rest of the War
He was paroled at Sharpsburg on 27 September but died of wounds in Maryland about 1 October 1862.
