Before Antietam
Age 19, he enlisted on 17 June 1861 and mustered into service as Private, Company K, 11th Pennsylvania Reserves on 29 July in Washington, DC.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in action near Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He died of wounds on 22 October 1862 in Baltimore, MD.
