Before Antietam

A 25 year old farmer he enlisted and mustered into service as Private, Company K, 13th Pennsylvania Reserves on 3 October 1861 in Harrisburg. He was captured at Mechanicsville, VA on 26 June 1862, probably exchanged in August, and returned to duty.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded in action at Antietam on 16 or 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He died of wounds on 7 January 1863, place not given.
