Before Antietam
Age 20, he enlisted on 31 August 1861 at Upper Marion, and mustered as Private, Company I, 51st Pennsylvania Infantry in Harrisburg on 28 September 1861.
On the Campaign
He was mortally wounded in action at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He died of wounds on 24 September 1862.
