Before Antietam
Age 22, he enlisted in Norristown on 9 September 1861, and mustered as Private, Company A, 51st Pennsylvania Infantry on 12 September in Harrisburg.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Fox's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was mortally wounded at Spotsylvania, VA on 12 May 1864 and died of wounds in Germantown, Philadelphia, PA on 18 June 1864.
