Before Antietam

Age 19, he enlisted and mustered into service as Private, 90th Pennsylvania Infantry on 1 October 1861 in Philadelphia.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded by a gunshot to his hip in action at Antietam on 17 September.

The rest of the War

He was admitted to a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD on 28 September 1862 but died there of wounds on 30 September 1862. His body was taken home by relatives.
