A 24 year old paper maker in Cumberland County, he enlisted on 5 November 1861 in Chambersburg and mustered into service as Private, Company K, 107th Pennsylvania Infantry on 9 January 1862 in Harrisburg.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action near Turner's Gap on South Mountain on 14 September 1862.
