Before Antietam

A 25 year old stonemason in Chester County, he enlisted on 22 July 1862 in West Chester and mustered as Private, Company G, 124th Pennsylvania Infantry on 12 August in Harrisburg.

On the Campaign

He was listed as a deserter at Antietam on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He enlisted again, in Philadelphia on 15 January 1864 and mustered as Private, Company B, 11th Pennsylvania Cavalry on 1 February 1864. He mustered out with that Company on 16 July 1865.

After the War

At the 1880 US Census he was a prisoner in the Chester County jail. Still making his living as a mason, he was in West Caln Township, Chester County in 1900.
