He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was wounded again, at Fredericksburg, VA on 13 December 1862 and returned to duty by February 1863. He was absent from his Company, sick, from June 1863 through April 1864, when he was listed as a deserter.
