He enlisted in Suffolk, VA as Private, Company K, First South Carolina Infantry on 23 December 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was absent on account of wounds and in Charleston by February 1863 and on the Company rolls as such to the end of the war.
