He enlisted in Charleston as Private, Company K, First South Carolina Infantry on 25 June 1861.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was absent, wounded and in Charleston to at least February 1863 and afterward absent without leave. He was listed as a deserter in February 1864.
