A 29 year old merchant in Donaldsville, Abbeville District, he enlisted as 5th Sergeant, Company B, 7th South Carolina Infantry on 15 April 1861. He was commissioned 3rd Lieutenant at the reorganization of 13 May 1862 and promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on 9 June 1862.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
