Before Sharpsburg

An 18 year old farm worker in at Indian Hill, Abbeville District, he enlisted as a Private in Company C, 7th South Carolina Infantry on 15 April 1861.

On the Campaign

He was wounded by a gunshot in action on Maryland Heights, MD near Harpers Ferry on 13 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was in hospitals in Culpeper and Richmond, VA, and probably returned to duty. He died of typhoid fever at Hanover Junction (now Doswell), VA on 8 May 1863.
