Before Sharpsburg

From the Anderson District, he enlisted as Private, Company G, 7th South Carolina Infantry on 9 August 1862.

On the Campaign

He was mortally wounded by a gunshot to his left hip and captured in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was briefly at a US Army hospital in Frederick, MD from 22 to 25 October 1862, then sent on to Fort McHenry in Baltimore, and exchanged at Aiken's Landing, VA on on 25 October. He died of wounds on 7 November 1862 at General Hospital #1 in Richmond, VA.
