Before Sharpsburg
Age 27, from Indian Hill, Abbeville District, he enlisted as a Private in Company C, 7th South Carolina Infantry on 12 June 1862.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was wounded by a gunshot to his left hand at Gettysburg, PA on 2 July 1863 and captured there. He was held at the DeCamp General Hospital in New York Harbor and paroled on 7 September 1863. He was then at the Episcopal Church Hospital in Williamsburg, VA to 13 September. He returned to duty but was killed at 3 June 1864 at Cold Harbor, VA.
