A 37 year old farmer in the Newberry District, he enlisted as a Private in Company M, 7th South Carolina Infantry on 17 March 1862.

On the Campaign

He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.

The rest of the War

He was in Chimborazo Hospital in Richmond, VA to 25 October and was wounded again, at Chancellorsville, VA on 4 May 1863. He was listed as missing in action at Cedar Creek, VA on 19 October 1864, but returned to duty, with no further military record.

After the War

By 1870, and to at least 1880, he was a farmer in Cannon's Township in Newberry County, SC.
